Missile Troops and Artillery Day is observed in Ukraine every December 4. This professional holiday was established by a decree from President Leonid Kuchma in 1997 and was later moved to its current date by President Volodymyr Zelensky in 2024 to foster new military traditions. The day commemorates the courage and heroism of Ukrainian servicemen and women in their fight for the country's freedom, independence, and territorial integrity. Originally, a similar observance was established in the Soviet Union in 1964, celebrated on November 19, but Ukraine ceased to officially recognize it after the USSR's collapse. On this day, servicemen and veterans of missile and artillery troops receive congratulations from top state officials and officials from the Ministry of Defense.
