Sindh Cultural Day is observed worldwide on every December 9, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Sindhi people, an Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group native to the Sindh province of Pakistan. The day commemorates the unique culture that has evolved over 7,000 years, rooted in the Indus Valley Civilization and influenced by various invaders. Initially celebrated as Sindhi Topi Day, it was established in response to criticism of President Asif Ali Zardari wearing a Sindhi cap. The celebration was later renamed Sindh Cultural Day by journalist Ali Kazi. On this day, Sindhis around the world don traditional attire, including the arjak (a block-printed shawl) and the Sindhi topi, and participate in various cultural events in cities with significant Sindhi populations.
