February 1: Space Technology Day (Iran)

National Space Technology Day is observed in Iran on February 2 each year, coinciding with the anniversary of the launch of the country's first domestically made satellite, Omid. This day was established following the successful launch of Omid on February 2, 2009, by an Iranian-made carrier rocket, Safi 1, from the Semnan launch site. The Iranian Space Agency (ISA), founded on February 1, 2004, oversees the exploration of outer space and the development of Iran's space industry, promoting peaceful applications of space science and technology. To celebrate National Space Technology Day, an exhibition showcasing the space industry is held annually in Tehran. This observance highlights Iran's advancements in space technology and commemorates significant milestones in its space exploration efforts.
