Safer Internet Day is observed worldwide every year on February 10. This annual event, organized by the Insafe network, aims to promote a safer online environment for children and young people by addressing issues such as social networking and cyberbullying. Founded in 2004 as part of the European Union SafeBorder project, it has since expanded from a European observance to being celebrated in over 100 countries. Activities on this day include debates on internet safety, the creation and promotion of positive online content, reporting of harmful material, and teaching digital literacy skills to children. Industry professionals also gather to discuss strategies for improving online safety.
