Forest Animal Feeding Day (Dzień Dokarmiania Zwierzyny Leśnej) is observed in Poland every February 11. This unofficial nature-related observance aims to assist forest animals in surviving the harsh winter months, during which they face an average of 25 "hunger days" due to thick snow that limits their access to food. Polish forestry employees actively participate in feeding initiatives, providing deer with tree branches, hay, and vegetables, while wild boars receive corn and acorns. Birds are offered seeds, and small animals are fed in safe locations away from predators. While this practice improves the living conditions and breeding potential of the animals, it also raises concerns about their dependency on human-provided food and changes in their natural dietary habits.
