Memorial Day of Warriors-Internationalists is observed every February 15 in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. This day honors warriors who performed their duty outside their motherland, particularly commemorating the last day of Soviet troops' withdrawal from Afghanistan in 1989. The observance, which became an official memorial day in Russia in 2010, recognizes veterans of the war in Afghanistan and soldiers who participated in other armed conflicts abroad, including those in Vietnam, Korea, Egypt, Syria, and more. In Ukraine, it is known as the Day of Honoring the Combatants on the Territory of Other States, established by Presidential Decree in 2004. Although it is not a public holiday, it serves as a significant occasion to remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by these servicemen.
