The Uruguay Carnival is an annual festival celebrated in Uruguay, beginning in the third week of January and concluding in mid-March, with the festivities starting on February 16. The main celebrations occur in the capital city, Montevideo, and last for up to 40 days. This vibrant event features dance parades, known as comparsas, where participants joyfully play drums and dance to music, showcasing cultural traditions such as Murga and candombe.
