Book Giving Day is observed in Armenia every year on February 19, celebrating the birth anniversary of Hovhannes Tumanyan, a prominent Armenian poet and public activist. The holiday was resumed in 2008 through the initiative of Levon Ananyan, the late Chairman of the Writers Union of Armenia. To commemorate this day, various events are organized, including literary readings and special performances by theaters. People can visit museums in Yerevan and other cities in exchange for a science-fiction or fiction book. Notable locations include two museums dedicated to Tumanyan, one in his birthplace and another in Yerevan, where memorials honoring his contributions to Armenian literature are also found.
