Coat of Arms Day is observed in Ukraine every February 19, commemorating the official adoption of the small coat of arms in 1992. The small coat of arms features a blue shield with a golden trident, inspired by the personal seal of Volodymyr the Great, a significant historical figure in the Kyivan Rus’. Although the holiday is unofficial, it has been celebrated since 2018 and is endorsed by various government agencies, educational institutions, and cultural organizations. The trident symbol has historical roots, having been used by the Ukrainian People’s Republic in 1918 and later adopted as the national emblem after Ukraine's independence in 1991. The observance gained renewed significance following the 2022 Russian invasion, as the trident has become a symbol of patriotism and resilience among the Ukrainian people.
