February 2: Inventor’s Day (Thailand)

Inventor's Day is observed in Thailand every February 2 to honor individuals who have significantly contributed to scientific progress. The day was established by the Cabinet of Thailand on May 10, 1994, to commemorate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, recognized as the father of Thai invention for creating the Chai Phatthana aerator in 1989, which received a patent in 1993. This paddle-wheel machine, designed to enhance oxygen levels in water, serves as an effective and low-cost wastewater treatment system. Since 2001, the National Research Council of Thailand has coordinated the celebration, which includes an annual exhibition showcasing Thai inventions and innovations. This event allows inventors to share experiences and foster collaboration in research and development.
