Founders' Day, also known as B-P Day, is observed worldwide every February 22 to celebrate the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement. Baden-Powell was born on February 22, 1857, and he served in the British Army before establishing the Scout Movement with the first camp held on Brownsea Island in 1907. This event marked the beginning of scouting, bringing together boys from various social backgrounds. The day also honors Olave Soames, Baden-Powell's wife, who was involved in the Girl Guide Movement and shares the same birthday, albeit 22 years younger. Members of the Scout movement commemorate this occasion by reflecting on Baden-Powell's contributions to scouting and promoting the Scout Motto, “Be Prepared,” represented by the initials B-P. Additionally, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts celebrate this day as World Thinking Day.
