Youth Day in Russia is celebrated on the last Saturday of June. Established by President Boris Yeltsin in 1993, this holiday has its roots in the Soviet Union, where it originated as the Day of Soviet Youth on February 7, 1958. After the USSR’s collapse, the celebration was preserved but moved to June 27 and renamed Russian Youth Day. Although it holds official status, it is not recognized as a public holiday. The day is marked by various events across the country, including concerts, contests, competitions, youth conferences, exhibitions, and workshops. Additionally, Russia observes International Youth Day on August 12, established by the United Nations.
