The day was launched by the Scotch Whisky Experience, the largest Scotch whisky museum, which offers special guided tours, tastings, and events to commemorate the occasion. Scotch whisky must adhere to specific regulations, including being produced in Scotland and aged in oak casks for at least three years. There are five main types of Scotch whisky, including single malt and blended Scotch, with major production companies like Diageo and Pernod Ricard contributing significantly to the industry. The Scotch Whisky Experience, founded in 1988, showcases a vast collection of over 3,300 different bottles of Scotch and represents 90% of the Scotch whisky industry.
