Global Day of Unplugging is observed worldwide every first Friday of March, beginning at sundown and ending at sundown the following day. This event encourages individuals to take a break from technology and reconnect with their surroundings and loved ones. Originally launched in 2009 as the National Day of Unplugging by Reboot, a Jewish arts and culture non-profit, it promotes the Sabbath Manifesto's idea of stepping back from technology for at least one day. The initiative has since evolved into a global campaign organized by Unplug Collaborative, which facilitates various tech-free activities such as volunteering, crafting, and scavenger hunts. Participants are encouraged to engage in meaningful offline experiences, whether by cooking, spending time with family, hiking, or picking up a new hobby. Even if unable to unplug for the full 24 hours, individuals can still participate by dedicating a few hours to disconnect from their devices.
