World Day of Bullying Prevention, also known as Blue Shirt Day, is observed worldwide every first Monday of October. It was established by STOMP Out Bullying, a leading anti-bullying and cyberbullying organization in the United States. The day aims to combat bullying, which is characterized by aggressive behavior, an imbalance of power, and ongoing repetition. Participants are encouraged to wear blue shirts, a symbol chosen to represent bullying awareness due to its association with peace in many cultures. Schools, community groups, and businesses, primarily in North America, participate by wearing blue and organizing events to foster discussions about bullying. The day also aligns with National Bullying Prevention Month, designated in October by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center.
