Air Force Day is observed in Ukraine every first Sunday of August, celebrating the Ukrainian Air Force, a branch of the Armed Forces formed in 1992 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Established by President Viktor Yuschenko in 2007, this professional holiday honors military aviators separately from civil aviators, who were previously recognized on Ukrainian Aviation Day. The day is marked by official speeches, spectacular airshows, colorful parades, and open-air concerts, allowing the public to participate in the festivities. Despite chronic underinvestment, the Ukrainian Air Force remains the seventh largest in Europe and is supported by its own aircraft manufacturer, Antonov State Company.
