The SAAM Day of Action is observed worldwide on every first Tuesday of April as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Its primary goal is to prevent sexual assault, abuse, and harassment through education and awareness. The day was designated in 2004 by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), which coordinates themes and resources for the month. Participants are encouraged to wear teal to show support for survivors, attend or host events, and volunteer at local rape crisis centers. The history of Sexual Assault Awareness Month dates back to the 1970s, with the first nationwide observance occurring in 2001. This initiative aims to combat victim-blaming and promote understanding of consent and respect for boundaries.
