Peruvian Coffee Day is observed in Peru every fourth Friday of August to celebrate the country's rich coffee industry. The holiday was established in 2008 by the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation to promote the consumption of Peruvian coffee and support small farmers, particularly those practicing organic farming. Events on this day include expos, fairs, coffee festivals, and free tastings, allowing both Peruvians and tourists to enjoy and learn about Peruvian coffee. The majority of coffee production in Peru comes from small farms organized under the CENFROCAFE cooperative, where over 90% of the coffee marketed is organic and Fair Trade certified. Notably, most of Peru's coffee is exported to countries such as Belgium, Colombia, Germany, Sweden, and the United States, while domestic consumption is gradually increasing, especially among younger people.
