Rescuer's Day is observed in Belarus on January 19 every year, commemorating the contributions of emergency services personnel. Established by a Presidential Decree on March 26, 1998, this day recognizes the efforts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and its Belorussian Rescue Service, which comprises around 1,000 combat units and over 6,000 pieces of machinery. On this day, the President of Belarus sends greetings to emergency bodies, highlighting their role in protecting citizens from natural disasters and accidents. Additionally, new members are recruited into the rescue service, taking an oath to assist not only Belarusians but also people in need worldwide. Training for these personnel is provided by two high schools affiliated with the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
