Foreign Intelligence Service Day is observed in Ukraine every January 24, celebrating the employees of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (FISU). This professional holiday was officially established by President Petro Poroshenko in November 2018 to honor the contributions of FISU personnel in protecting the country's national interests and safeguarding its citizens abroad. The FISU, an independent state body, is responsible for various intelligence activities, including countering transnational organized crime and terrorism. Its structure includes several departments such as Human Intelligence, Signal Intelligence, and Internal Security, with a total personnel of 4,350. The Chairman of the FISU, appointed by the President, oversees its operations, which are also monitored by various governmental bodies. The day aims to revive the national intelligence identity and create traditions to honor the achievements of the service.
