National Voter's Day is observed in India every January 25. This observance was introduced by the Election Commission in 2011 to commemorate the foundation day of the Commission. The initiative aims to encourage young voters, particularly those who turn 18, as their enrollment in the electoral roll has been notably low in some regions, ranging from 20-25%. On this day, the Election Commission checks the lists of eligible young voters and provides them with their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC). Additionally, new voters receive a badge featuring the Commission's logo that states “Proud to be a voter – Ready to vote.” This celebration is intended to instill a sense of pride and empowerment among young voters, inspiring them to participate in the electoral process.
