Coach Day is observed in Ukraine every July 19, commemorating the country's debut in the Summer Olympics in 1996, where it won 23 medals. Established in 2021 by President Volodymyr Zelensky, this professional holiday recognizes the vital role of coaches in sports, including fitness trainers, high school coaches, and physical therapists. The initiative received support from notable figures such as Serhiy Bubka, the president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, and Olympic medalist Zhan Beleniuk. Coach Day celebrates the contributions of various coaches, including renowned figures like Valeriy Lobanovskyi and Irina Deriugina, who have significantly impacted both Ukrainian and international sports. Prior to its official recognition, coaches informally celebrated their profession on October 30 since 1999.
