July 2: Day of the Diplomatic Service (Kazakhstan)

The Day of the Diplomatic Service, also known as Diplomacy Day, is observed in Kazakhstan every July 2. This official professional holiday was established by President Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2009 to honor the high professionalism of Kazakhstan's diplomatic employees. The date was chosen to commemorate the approval of key provisions regarding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the establishment of Kazakhstan's diplomatic service in 1992. On this day, all Kazakh diplomats are congratulated, and some receive special honors for distinguished service. Kazakhstan has established diplomatic relations with 130 sovereign entities and the European Union, maintaining over 80 diplomatic missions abroad, with more than 60 embassies located in Astana, the capital. The celebration recognizes the importance of political and economic security in Kazakhstan's foreign relations.
