Attorney Day, or Hari Kejaksaan, is observed in Indonesia every July 22, celebrating the establishment of the Attorney General's Office as an independent institution in 1960. This day marks the anniversary of the law that removed the office from the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice, allowing for greater discretion in legal matters. The Attorney General, appointed by the President, serves as the government's legal advisor and represents it in the Supreme Court. The Attorney General's Office oversees 27 provincial and nearly 300 district prosecutor's offices, which handle legal charges, present cases in court, and supervise individuals on probation or parole. Celebrated annually since 1961, Attorney Day is a professional holiday for all employees of the Attorney General's Office at various levels.
