Army Aviation Day is observed in Ukraine every July 3, commemorating the courage and heroism of service members in the Ukrainian Army Aviation. Established by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in January 2025, the holiday recognizes the vital role of the Army Aviation, which provides air support to ground forces during combat operations. This military branch, part of the Ukrainian Ground Forces since 1994, utilizes Soviet-made helicopters for various missions, including fire support, troop strikes, and the destruction of enemy infrastructure. The Ukrainian Army Aviation has a history of participation in humanitarian and peacekeeping missions and has been actively involved in combat since the onset of the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2014. Notable units include the 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Kherson” and the 57th Air Base in Brody, Lviv Oblast.
