Water Resource Management Employees Day is observed in Kazakhstan every July 9. Established in January 2019 by Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, this holiday recognizes the essential role of water resource management employees in planning, developing, and managing the country's water resources, as well as protecting them from depletion and pollution. Kazakhstan, the world's largest landlocked country, faces significant water resource challenges due to its geographic location and extreme climate. The country is home to seven major rivers, over 48,000 lakes, and thirteen reservoirs, with the Irtysh River being the deepest and a primary water source. On this day, water management employees are congratulated by leaders and officials, and distinguished individuals may receive awards such as cash bonuses and letters of appreciation, highlighting their contributions to ensuring reliable water supply and preserving natural resources.
