June 15: Arbor Day (Costa Rica)

Arbor Day is observed in Costa Rica every June 15, where both adults and children participate in tree planting events across the country. This holiday, known as Día del Árbol, was established on May 25, 1915, by then-President Alfredo Gonzalez, and has since become a tradition aimed at recovering parks and forests. Environmental organizations in Costa Rica lead long-term projects focused on replanting trees, particularly in areas where parks have been severely affected, to restore natural biodiversity and provide shelter for wildlife. In addition to tree planting, Arbor Day also features conferences on environmental management and forest ecosystems, enhancing public knowledge and engagement with ecological issues.
