Bacoor Cityhood Day, observed in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines, is celebrated every June 23 to commemorate the day Bacoor was granted city status. This special working holiday also marks a no-class day in schools within the city. Bacoor, a first-class component city with a population exceeding 650,000, is the second largest city in Cavite and the 15th most populous city in the country. The city's name is believed to derive from a word meaning "circle," referencing the shape of Bacoor Bay, or from terms meaning "plateau" or "fence." Historically, Bacoor was founded in 1671 and played significant roles in the 1872 Cavite mutiny and the Philippine Revolution, particularly noted for the Battle of the Zapote Bridge in 1897. The city officially became a city on June 23, 2012, following a plebiscite that ratified Republic Act No. 10160.
