National Flag Day in Romania is observed on June 26 every year. This day commemorates the adoption of the national flag, which features a vertical tricolor of cobalt blue, chrome yellow, and vermilion red stripes. The flag's colors symbolize liberty, justice, and fraternity, and were first associated with the Principality of Wallachia in 1834. The current arrangement of the colors was officially adopted in 1866. National Flag Day was first celebrated in 1998, chosen to mark the day in 1848 when the blue-yellow-red tricolor was declared the national flag.
