Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day is observed worldwide every June 27. This international observance was officially inaugurated by the United Nations General Assembly in April 2017 through resolution 71/279, introduced by Argentina, highlighting that over 95% of the world's enterprises fall into this category and account for about 60% of private sector employment. The day aims to emphasize the importance of these enterprises for sustainable development, particularly in promoting decent work, creativity, and innovation. On this day, UN Member States, international and regional organizations, and civil society engage in various activities such as policy discussions, practitioner workshops, and meetings with business owners to celebrate and recognize the contributions of micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises to economic growth and sustainable development.
