Teachers' Day is observed in the Dominican Republic every June 30. It was established on June 6, 1939, by Virgilio Díaz Ordóñez, the Secretary of State for Justice, Public Education and Fine Arts, to honor the birthday of Juan Bosch, a notable author and the 43rd President of the Dominican Republic. While the celebration may go unnoticed in many institutions, the Dominican Teachers Association and the Ministry of Education organize and supervise festive events in schools across the country. These events aim to recognize and appreciate the hard work of teachers, with students typically giving flowers and small gifts to express their gratitude.
