Primož Trubar Day is observed in Slovenia every June 8, commemorating the life of Primož Trubar, a Protestant reformer and the author of the first printed book in the Slovenian language. Trubar, born in 1508 in the Duchy of Carniola, contributed significantly to the Slovenian language by writing and publishing the first two books in Slovene, one of which included the first Slovene musical manuscript in print. His contributions are recognized as pivotal in the development of Slovenian literature and language. The holiday was established in 2008 to mark the 500th anniversary of Trubar's birth, and it is celebrated annually across the country. Notable symbols of his legacy include his depiction on the 10 tolar banknote and the Slovenian 1 euro coin.
