Turkmen Horse Day is observed in Turkmenistan every last Sunday of April, celebrating the Akhal-Teke horse breed, which is featured on the country's official coat of arms. Known for their endurance, speed, and intelligence, Akhal-Teke horses are considered one of the oldest horse breeds and are sometimes referred to as Golden Horses due to their distinctive shiny coat. The holiday is marked by various events such as equestrian fairs, exhibitions, dressage, and racing competitions. Since 2013, the city of Ashgabat has hosted an International Fair to commemorate the day. The breeding, maintenance, and training of these horses are overseen by a dedicated agency in Turkmenistan, highlighting their significance as a national pride.
