Retail Employees' Day is observed in Ukraine and Belarus every last Sunday of July. This official professional holiday, also known as the Day of Retail Employees or Day of Retail Workers, was originally established in the Soviet Union in 1966. It was reintroduced in Ukraine in 1995 by President Leonid Kuchma and in Belarus in 1998 by President Alexander Lukashenko. The holiday recognizes the efforts and achievements of retail employees, who play a significant role in the economies of both countries. While many associate retail employees primarily with shop assistants, the term encompasses all individuals involved in retail operations, both front-end and back-end.
