Magal de Touba is an annual grand pilgrimage observed in the city of Touba, Senegal, on the 18th day of the Safara month of the Islamic calendar. This significant religious festival commemorates the exile of Ahmadou Bamba, a prominent religious leader and founder of the Mouride Brotherhood, to Gabon during the French colonial period. Bamba's influence was seen as a threat by the French government, leading to his 12-year exile, which only increased his following. After his death, he was buried in Touba, where the Great Mosque was later constructed.
