National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day is observed in the United States every March 25 during National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. Established in 2006 by Cynthia Frisina of the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, the day aims to highlight the lack of research and progress in treating cerebral palsy (CP), the most common lifelong physical disability affecting over 1 million people in the U.S. and more than 17 million worldwide. On this day, individuals are encouraged to wear green, the awareness color for CP, and to raise awareness on social media using the hashtag #GoGreen4CP. The day also serves to inform the public about the various types of CP, its symptoms, and the challenges faced by those living with the condition. Although there is no cure for CP, various treatments and management strategies can improve quality of life, emphasizing the importance of community support and involvement.
