Dolyatra, also known as Doljatra, is a Hindu festival celebrated in India, typically in March, on varying dates depending on the lunar calendar. This holiday commemorates the love between Lord Krishna and Radha and is marked by the application of colorful powder called Phag. The celebrations begin with honoring deceased family members and seeking blessings from elders before engaging in the playful smearing of colors among participants. The festival features decorated idols of Krishna and Radha, which are paraded on chariots, accompanied by singing and bhajans. The first day, known as “Gondh,” involves lighting a bonfire and parading Krishna's idol, while the second day, Bhor-Deul or Dol, focuses on applying colors to family photos and seeking blessings. The festivities continue with prayers and communal gatherings, emphasizing the bond of love and respect within the community.
