Mother's Day is observed in Georgia every March 3. Established in 1991 under the initiative of the first President of Georgia, Zviad Gamsakhurdia, the holiday gained official status with support from the Supreme Council. It was created to replace the International Women's Day, traditionally celebrated on March 8, although Georgian women celebrate both occasions. This family-oriented holiday involves children expressing their love and respect for their mothers through various gestures, including family dinners. On this day, restaurants and cafes are typically busier than usual as it is common for families to take their mothers out for a treat.
