Land Day is observed in Palestine every March 30, commemorating the events of March 30, 1976, when a general strike was initiated in response to an Israeli government plan to expropriate lands in the Galilee, affecting about 20,000 dunams, including over 6,000 dunams owned by Arabs. The expropriation plan was a reaction to Palestinian resistance and aimed at the judaization of the Galilee. On this day, Palestinians remember those who lost their lives during the protests, which included marches and strikes across Arab settlements in Israel, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. The protests were met with force from the Israeli Defense Forces and Police, resulting in the deaths of six Arab citizens and injuries to around 100 others. Land Day serves as an occasion for many Arab citizens of Israel to express political discontent through protests, general strikes, and demonstrations, marking a significant moment in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
