National Virtual Vacation Day is observed worldwide every March 30. It was created in 2016 by Terrance Talks Travel, a travel blog founded by writer and photographer Terrance Zepke, and gained support from National Day Calendar two years later. The day encourages people to explore dream destinations virtually, offering a budget-friendly way to relax and recharge without leaving home. With the rise of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies, as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the concept of virtual vacations has become increasingly popular. Participants can engage in various activities such as taking virtual tours, watching 360° videos, and exploring museums online. To enhance the experience, individuals are encouraged to incorporate local cuisine, whether by cooking or ordering takeout, and to share their experiences on social media using the hashtags #NationalVirtualVacationDay and #VirtualVacationDay.
