International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) is observed worldwide every March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day. The event aims to unite women brewmasters and highlight the contributions of women in the brewing profession. Conceived by Sophie de Ronde in 2013, IWCBD was established to combat sexism and gender bias in the traditionally male-dominated brewing industry, with support from the Pink Boots Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to women in brewing. The inaugural event took place in 2014, featuring over 60 women brewmasters from five countries brewing the same recipe, Unite pale ale. Since then, participation has grown, with 80 participants from 11 countries brewing Unite red ale the following year. IWCBD serves as both a networking opportunity for women brewmakers and a charity event that raises funds for the Pink Boots Society and local charities, contributing to the normalization of women's roles in brewing.
