Firefighters’ Day is observed in Latvia every May 17, celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the country's fire and rescue service. Established in 2011, this professional holiday commemorates the first successful fire extinguishing by the Riga volunteer fire and rescue service brigade on May 17, 1865.
