Flag Day in Poland is observed every May 2 and commemorates the raising of the Polish flag on the Victory Column in Berlin on May 2, 1945, marking the end of the Battle of Berlin. This national holiday has been celebrated annually since 2004, although it typically falls on a working day unless it coincides with a weekend. The Polish flag features a horizontal bicolor design, with a white upper stripe and a red lower stripe, which have been recognized as the national colors since 1831. The flag was officially adopted in 1919, and a variation featuring the national coat of arms is used at sea and abroad. On Flag Day, state and local government entities are legally required to display the flag, alongside other significant dates such as May Day and Constitution Day. The national flag is also continuously flown at the presidential palace and the parliament.
