The celebration began in 2006, initiated by a Spanish blogger known as señor Buebo, and the largest event occurred in Madrid, where approximately three hundred participants formed a human Pac-Man. The holiday gained international attention, with its first official celebration in the United States in 2008, followed by participation from countries such as Canada, Israel, Romania, and Sweden. In addition to Star Wars, May 25 coincides with other fan observances, including Towel Day for fans of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the Glorious 25th of May for Terry Pratchett enthusiasts.
