Lod Massacre Remembrance Day is observed in Puerto Rico every May 30 to commemorate the victims of the Lod Airport Massacre, which occurred in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1972. The attack was organized by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-External Operations and executed by three members of the Japanese Red Army. During the attack, the assailants, disguised as musicians carrying violin cases, opened fire on airport staff and visitors, resulting in 26 deaths and 80 injuries, including 17 Christian pilgrims from Puerto Rico. The day serves as a memorial for those who lost their lives and is marked annually to honor their memory.
