Parliament Day is observed in Croatia every May 30, commemorating the anniversary of the first convocation of the multi-party parliament on this date in 1990. Originally, May 30 was celebrated as Statehood Day, marking the establishment of the first post-Communist multi-party Parliament of Croatia. However, since 2002, June 25 has been recognized as Statehood Day, and May 30 has since been designated as Parliament Day, which is not an official day off. The Croatian Parliament, known as the Sabor, consists of 151 members elected for a four-year term, with powers defined by the Constitution of Croatia. The Sabor regulates various aspects of Croatian life, including economic, legal, and political relations, and has the authority to deploy armed forces abroad and restrict certain constitutional rights during wartime.
