National Book Day in Iran is observed on November 14 and marks the beginning of National Book Week. This event aims to develop a reading culture in Iran and promote Iranian literature internationally. It was initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, with support from the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO. During this week, various activities take place, including book fairs, reading contests, presentations of new books, and award ceremonies for outstanding publishers and authors. Special emphasis is placed on encouraging reading among children and teenagers, with events organized by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (Kanoon), which has been working to promote literacy since 1965. National Book Day and Week serve to strengthen the cultural backbone of the nation by engaging people of all ages in reading.
