November 15: King’s Feast (Belgium)

King's Feast is observed in Belgium every November 15. This public holiday was established in 1866 during the reign of King Leopold I, initially celebrated on July 21 and December 16, which corresponded to his coronation and birthday, respectively. King Leopold II later moved the holiday to November 15, aligning it with the name day of Saint Leopold and Saint Albert, the patron saint of the Belgian royal family. King Leopold III officially recognized this date as the feast day, and during Prince Charles's rule, it was renamed to the Day of the Dynasty or Feast of the Dynasty, although these names are still commonly used. In 1952, King Baudouin gave the holiday its current name. A special service is held at the National Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Brussels, where the Te Deum is sung, attended by the royal family (excluding the monarchs) and local authorities.
