No Music Day is observed worldwide every November 21. This unofficial holiday was introduced in 2005 by Bill Drummond to highlight the cheapening of music and its mindless use in contemporary society. The date was chosen as it falls on the eve of the feast of Saint Cecilia, the patroness saint of music. Drummond initiated the day by spending it without music, reflecting on the type of music he would prefer to hear. Although various activities were promoted until 2009, since 2010, individuals have been encouraged to observe and organize the day in their own ways. The holiday serves as a reminder of the value of music and the importance of mindful listening.
