International Day to End Impunity (IDEI) is observed worldwide every November 23. This observance was established by IFEX in 2011 to coincide with the anniversary of the Maguindanao massacre, where 57 individuals, including 32 journalists and media workers, were killed in the Philippines in 2009, marking the deadliest attack against journalists in history. IDEI aims to highlight the threats and persecution faced by artists, musicians, journalists, writers, and advocates exercising their right to free expression. To commemorate this day, individuals are encouraged to take action starting November 1 by signing petitions, spreading awareness through media, or sending protest letters. The observance seeks to demand justice for those who suffer from unpunished acts of violence and intimidation.
